When the weather outside is frightful....take a trip to Florida!!!

Wheelock Terrace resident Clayton Adams recently returned from his annual trip to Tequesta Florida, where he stayed at our sister facility Tequesta Terrace. This was Clayton's third year making the trip, and he says he very much enjoys his time there.

Much like Wheelock Terrace, Tequesta has three prepared meals a day and various scheduled activities within the building. Clayton stated that the only difference with the meals, was that in Florida there tended to be a more ‘southern' style of cooking-for instance grits were available at all meals.

Fall is upon us, and although we find ourselves donning fleece jackets and warming up our cars to eliminate frost, this time of year is undeniably beautiful. Time to bear arms!! (Your upper arm that is) October is the month for flu shots, and like every year before, Wheelock hosted a flu clinic for residents and staff. With as many years as we have been conducting these clinics, we have become very organized at taking up as little of everyone's time as possible. This year we were faster than ever. Reaching one hundred years of age is a milestone most of us will only ever dream about. At Wheelock we are proud to know two ladies who have achieved that level of greatness, Geri Vladimir and Carolyn Normandeau. But their age isn't the only thing they have in common. Their similar attributes begin with their arrival at breakfast each morning looking beautiful, and continue with their choice of breakfast: a bowl of cheerios with banana and a poached egg on toast. March 27^th, 2009 began a celebration 103 years in the making. Geraldine Vladimir, Wheelock Terrace resident since November of 2001, turned 103 years young. In honor of reaching such a spectacular age, Geri's daughter planned a special mini concert that took place at 10:30am in the Wheelock Terrace living room. Julia Baker Goldberg (violinist) and Victoria Dobrushina (pianist) took the crowd on a musical adventure that included pieces from Claude Debussy, Camille Saint-Saens, Felix Mendelssohn, and Pablo de Sarasate.
